Teachers - Elementary - Teacher 6A
After 28 years, I am still as passionate about teaching today as I was the first day I started. It is my job to not only teach students the curriculum, but teach them to find things they are excited about, set goals, try new things, be persistant when they don’t accomplish their goals right away, and to celebrate successes. I can’t wait to see where our adventure takes us this year! My wish for my students is they will reach for the stars and leave feeling like “Nailed that!”.
I am proud to be part of VES. Our school song really says it all. We have so many opportunities for the kids like clubs, lunch and breakfast programs, and leadership and service projects. We have a strong family atmosphere that is fostered through VIBE, Roots of Empathy, and our Buddy Classes that work together on science, technology, engineering, art, math and reading activities. My wish for my students is to feel a part of VES and feel the confidence to grow and learn.
Vermilion is an amazing community to be a part of. We celebrate our history as shown in the “Historical Walk Around Vermilion”, the restorations in the store fronts, the photos from the past the Town shares, and the Vermilion Heritage Museum. We are also always moving forward with many new businesses, wellness activities, activities to connect with others, clubs and sports teams. If you think there is nothing to do in our small town, you just aren’t looking! My wish for my students is to connect with others and find healthy fun things to do in Vermilion.
Another one of my passions is practicing and teaching yoga. I love encouraging kids and adults to take care of themselves and have a little fun! Besides that, I like to do a little bit of a lot of things. I read, crochet, knit, and macrame. I swim, kayak, canoe, and surf. I ski and skate. I follow my kids around cheering them on in all of their sporting events. My wish for my students is that find things they can be excited about. Some things on their own and some things that they can join others. Some quiet things and some loud exciting things. Just try everything!
Life if so full of exciting things to learn. I wonder what the kids will teach me this year?
