Sheila Doherty
I have spent my entire educational career in BTPS, first as a student, then a teacher and now as a school leader. I have been lucky to be part of a few schools in BTPS as an educator, and have loved each of them. I believe that we are here to impact our future. In order to do this, I believe in building strong relationships with staff, students, parents and the entire community. I am passionate about making sure that every student feels loved and part of our school family! In order for that to happen, I believe my role as principal is to empower staff, students and parents to live our school mantra, “Being the Best We Can Be”. I strive to live that mantra each day.
As the inclusive learning teacher at VES, my role is to support the learning needs of all our students. I truly believe that each child has a gift to give, and it is our job as educators to help them not only recognize their gifts, but be strong enough to let them show. As I support the learners, I believe we also need to support the families. I work to ensure that families have the necessary support to thrive in our school system.
My husband, Don, and I are active community members in Vermilion. We both love to be creative, and you will see us support the arts within the community of Vermilion. I am a member of the Pottery Guild and love sharing my art with others.
