Teacher 5/6

I'm born and raised right here in Vermilion.  I attended V.E.S. the first year it opened.  I went on to J. R. Robson for High School, then went to Augustana University College, and did an After-Degree in Education through Simon Fraser University.  I started teaching at J. R. Robson in 2000 before coming to V.E.S. in 2006.  My hobbies include reading, traveling, and weight training. Teaching is such an amazing profession.  Poet William Butler Yeats once said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”  However, I also see it as keeping the fire lit during difficult times.  The gift we can pass onto students is that learning each day is an opportunity that we should not and can not surrender.  It is their right and duty as human beings including being the best person they can be.  This is where learning and practicing virtues comes in. Interacting with the future leaders of today and tomorrow is truly a humbling experience.  Getting to witness learning challenges turn into successes makes Education a noble profession!
